MACKIE SRM 450 V2 400-WATT ACTIVE 2-WAY LIVE
SPEAKER WITH ACTIVE ELECTRONIC TIME ALIGNMENT, LIGHT WEIGHT AND CLASS-D
AMPLIFICATION
The Mackie SRM450v2 offers studio monitor quality sound in
a 12-inch 400-watt active PA speaker.
The Mackie SRM450v2 active PA
loudspeaker retains the best of the original Mackie SRM450 design, including
Mackie signature Active architecture and rugged durability, but improves the
design with ultra-efficient low-weight switching power supplies, a lightweight
12-inch neodymium woofer, an all-new titanium dome compression driver and a
high-efficiency 300-watt Class-D Fast Recovery low frequency amplifier. The
SRM450v2 packs way more power, clarity and punch than it's predecesor. Wide
dispersion, outstanding bass extension and ultra-low distortion mean the Mackie
SRM450v2 delivers studio monitor fidelity at full-on PA loudspeaker sound
pressure levels. The Mackie SRM450v2 Active loudspeaker combines superior
quality with innovative technology to bring ultimate performance and reliability
to the legendary Mackie Sound Reinforcement Monitor SRM series.
The
Mackie SRM450v2 features a 12-inch high-power low-frequency woofer with a 3-inch
voice coil and neodymium magnet driven by 300-watts. A 1.75-inch titanium
diaphragm high-output ceramic compression driver mounted on an acoustically
non-resonant exponential waveguide provides 90x45-degree controlled dispersion
and precise reproduction of the critical mid-range with smooth off-axis
responce.
Class D amplifiers, as featured in the low frequency section of
the Mackie SRM450v2, operate efficiently, producing more sound output and less
heat than comparable Class AB amplifiers. Less head mean less heat sinks, saving
weight in the SRM450v2. And because the SRM450v2 amplifiers use switching power
supplies, rather than conventional transformers, additional weight is saved in
the new SRM450v2. Each amplifier has its own compressor circuit that acts when
the input signal is large encough to cause clipping, distortion and excessive
voice coil heat. The SRM450v2 employs a built-in limiter for less distortion at
peak levels, and an automatic sliding high pass filter on the bass that moves
the low cut-off frequency up or down depending on amplifier output, to give that
little bit extra low end volume when the crowd demands more.
Most
loudspeaker systems mount the high frequency compression driver deep in the
enclosure at the end of the horn, causing the high frequencies to arrive at the
listener after the lows. This "time smear" distorts the relation of a
fundamental tone and it's haromics, mudding the tone, and smearing the stereo
image. Mackie has solved this problem in the SRM450v2 with Electronic Time
Correction which delays low frequencies electronically so highs and lows arrive
at the audience in their proper time relationship. The SRM450v2 stereo image is
accurate and the audience hears the proper frequency response of the
music.
Based on Mackie's HR824 studio monitor technology, the servo
feedback damping electronic circuit within the Mackie SRM450v2 tighens the bass
by including the low frequency loudspeakers in the feedback ciruitry of the
power amplifiers. The servo circuit "locks" the movement of the woofer in place
with the positive and negative feedback of the amplifier in a way that no
external amp and passive woofer can ever achieve. This creates a solid
direct-coupling that delivers extremely deep bass from a small
cabinet.
Ultra-low distortion, outstanding bass extention and wide
dispersion mean the Mackie SRM450v2 delivers studio monitor fidelity at sound
reinforcement PA system sound pressure levels.
